The Riverview School Dormitory is a wood frame 13,000 s/f two story building spread out over a very complex landscape with many variations in elevation. In order to overcome this, tons of structural fill were hauled into the site and many steps were designed into the foundation walls and slab to accommodate the changes in elevation. Along with the completion of this new dorm, a currently occupied dorm will be demolished. This will require a carefully coordinated completion date by June of 2008 in order for the Riverview School to make a smooth transition into the new dorm.

Thayer Academy, Summer 2007 Projects - Braintree, MA
Architect: Eck/MacNeely

Dining Hall Cosmetic Upgrades
Since Thayer Academy continues to utilize much of their space year round it is often difficult to renovate or upgrade areas of the school on a regular schedule. We maximized the small window of opportunity provided to us by removing and replacing the entire floor, replacing the wood base, and repainting the dining hall.

Middle School
The next larger renovation was performed at the Middle School. We completely demolished the Administrative Offices and rebuilt them in a new configuration. We added the security of a door access control system and viewing window to better control access to the building. In addition, we upgraded all of the finishes and millwork was added to better support the staff.

Glover Hall
This was the largest of the Summer 2007 Projects. The notable exterior changes are the replacement of all windows and associated interior work. We removed the large triangular skylight that was in disrepair and replaced it with new slate roof and drywall on the interior. Additionally we created 4 new offices when we renovated the interior lobby, Resource Center, and faculty offices. The lobby renovation consisted of infilling the floor creating an office. We installed mahogany panels, doors, and storefront which provides a more inviting environment as you enter the building. The Resource Center scope consisted of infilling the floor to create 3 new offices. We installed new aluminum storefront to enclose the offices and enlarge the existing offices. In addition to the cosmetic upgrades we installed new mechanical systems for this space as well as the lobby.
