Thayer Academy Summer 2007 Projects - Braintree, MA
Architect: Eck/MacNeely
Dining Hall Cosmetic Upgrades
Since Thayer Academy continues to utilize much of their space year round it is often difficult to renovate or upgrade areas of the school on a regular schedule. We maximized the small window of opportunity provided to us by removing and replacing the entire floor, replacing the wood base, and repainting the dining hall.
Middle School
The next larger renovation was performed at the Middle School. We completely demolished the Administrative Offices and rebuilt them in a new configuration. We added the security of a door access control system and viewing window to better control access to the building. In addition, we upgraded all of the finishes and millwork was added to better support the staff.
Glover Hall
This was the largest of the Summer 2007 Projects. The notable exterior changes are the replacement of all windows and associated interior work. We removed the large triangular skylight that was in disrepair and replaced it with new slate roof and drywall on the interior. Additionally we created 4 new offices when we renovated the interior lobby, Resource Center, and faculty offices. The lobby renovation consisted of infilling the floor creating an office. We installed mahogany panels, doors, and storefront which provides a more inviting environment as you enter the building. The Resource Center scope consisted of infilling the floor to create 3 new offices. We installed new aluminum storefront to enclose the offices and enlarge the existing offices. In addition to the cosmetic upgrades we installed new mechanical systems for this space as well as the lobby. |

Riverview New Dormitory - Sandwich, MA
Architect: CMG Associates
The Riverview School Dormitory is a wood frame 13,000 s/f two story building spread out over a very complex landscape with many variations in elevation. In order to overcome this, tons of structural fill were hauled into the site and many steps were designed into the foundation walls and slab to accommodate the changes in elevation. Along with the completion of this new dorm, a currently occupied dorm will be demolished. This will require a carefully coordinated completion date by June of 2008 in order for the Riverview School to make a smooth transition into the new dorm. |

North Attleboro Market Place - North Attleboro, MA
Architect: Robinson Green Beretta Corporation
This 22,000 s/f structural steel frame retail building added two tenants to the already successful North Attleboro Marketplace. After reducing the construction schedule at the start of the project, Acella’s completion date was made hard and fast once tied into the tenant leases for turnover. As with many of the current worksites, a vast number of existing utilities needed to be relocated in a site already too restricted for the building. Exterior finishes consisted of decorative split‐face block and E.I.F.S façade. |

Espirito Santo Church - Fall River, MA
Architect: Annino Associates
The 500+ s/f addition to the Espirito Santo Church in Fall River, Massachusetts revolves around a 45’ tall bell tower and new circular chapel addition, with a patio, and pergola. The new bell tower is 45’ of galvanized steel, and was designed to be one of the hallmarks of the church exterior. It has a 13’ deep reinforced foundation, and was designed with a walkthrough at the base to enter the new chapel. Along with new lights and a 12’ copper cross on top, the tower is also home to the original Espirito Santo Church bell dated 1910. The bell was removed from the existing school, sent to Ohio to be refurbished, and now hangs as a proud centerpiece on the new tower. Other prominent features of the exterior include expanded walkways and a crescent shaped stone wall with bluestone cap, combined with a six column pergola makes this new patio and sitting area unique and inviting. The matching brick on the addition blends in perfectly with the existing church. Many pieces including large round stain glass windows salvaged from a neighboring church, along with gilded woodwork that were also saved, will help bring the old and new together to give the interior a distinguished decor. |

St Gerard Majella Church - Canton, MA
Architect: Pando Associates
This project was a complete interior facelift of a church including the rebuilding and refinishing of pews. The pews were removed by a historical renovation contractor out of Pennsylvania. They were hauled back to their shop and meticulously rebuilt and refinished. While that was occurring, we repainted the interior and exterior of the church, replaced the carpet and added some handrails. The pews were then brought back and reinstalled in their previous location, with the addition of new kneelers. |
