This project called for Acella to completely gut and then renovate this former Catholic Church and transform this beloved historic structure into a year-round cultural center that has helped to revitalize Main Street in Wellfleet, MA. The metal ceilings, wood balcony and leaded glass windows have been fully restored. Wainscoting and old flooring have been brought back to life, along with the original cupola.. The lower hall has a restored stage, a new sound and lighting system and a warm ambient light spilling in through restored hammered glass windows. The 2,200 s.f. addition now boasts a fully accessible reception lobby which includes a stunning tile installation done by local tradesmen, as well as a brand new commercial kitchen, an elevator and 6 new restrooms. Design details were painstakingly reviewed along the way to provide an accessible, engaging and unique space for gatherings of all sorts. The building has become a hub for cultural, recreational and intellectual programs, and provides a unique venue for civic, educational, social and creative arts events. Acella also worked closely with the Architect and Building Committee on the preconstruction services for this project.
