NORWELL and BOSTON, MA, ISSUED JUNE 12, 2015… Acella Construction Corporation, a construction management firm serving the region for more than a decade, recently completed construction of a camel structure for the Franklin Park Zoo in Boston. This structure will serve as a nighttime shelter for two domesticated camels that will be visiting the Zoo over the summer and offering guests at the Zoo up-close encounters and rides.
Acella Construction Managers and Zoo New England (which oversees both the Stone Zoo in Stoneham and the Franklin Park Zoo in Boston) have worked together in recent years on other contracted projects including renovations to Franklin Park Zoo’s Bird’s World and the lion exhibit, and renovations to Stone Zoo’s Windows to the Wild.
The camel project, however, served as Acella’s annual charity event, which is an opportunity for the Acella team to come together and offer their time, talent and materials for a worthy cause. (Last year, Acella partnered with NVNA and Hospice of Norwell and filled up four dumpsters as part of a cleanout effort.)
“We are very grateful to Acella for their hard work on this exciting project,” said Marshall Judges, executive vice president and COO of Zoo New England. “It’s outstanding to see an organization give back to their community and get their whole team involved in the endeavor, and we are happy to have been the beneficiary of their good work.”
Dave Dirubbo, president of Acella, said, “Our annual charity event is a great occasion to improve how we work and communicate as a team, while helping out a wonderful organization that does so much for the Boston area. We are very proud of our affiliation with Franklin Park Zoo and Zoo New England.”
The Acella team, led by Scott Brash, the project superintendent, and several huge time saving ideas by Anthony Dirubbo, allowed us to complete our 14,200 s/f building on time. I have never worked with a better superintendent than Scott – as he performed miracles on a daily basis. If you are contemplating building a club house, please take the time to call Dave Dirubbo, Acella’s president and make an appointment. You will not be disappointed.
