NORWELL and SOUTH SANDWICH, MA, ISSUED NOVEMBER 10, 2015… Acella Construction Corporation (www.acellaconstruction.com), a leader in construction management for not-for-profit organizations on the South Shore, announced today that it has been selected as the Construction Manager for a new Dining Hall for the South Shore YMCA Camp Hayward for Girls. Through a partnership with the SSYMCA and Sheskey Architects, Acella will construct a new space for Camp Hayward girls that will foster a sense of community and a healthy spirit, mind and body.
The $2.5-million-project is ground-up construction of a 10,000-square-foot dining hall. It is scheduled to be completed by May 2016. Anthony Dirubbo, Acella’s vice president of operations and lead on this project, brings extensive expertise in managing projects of this size and scope, and works with Acella’s clients on Cape Cod – most recently completing a new clubhouse for Cummaquid Golf Club in Yarmouth Port, Mass.
Funds for the new dining hall are being raised as part of Camp Burgess & Hayward’s Capital Campaign, which recently kicked-off with “The Wahlberg Experience,” a fundraising event hosted at the camp to raise awareness of the Capital Campaign and the impact of the summer camp experience on children.
The dining hall is designed for 600 campers and staff, and ensures that Camp Hayward will be able to meet a growing need for quality summer camp programs and experiences for girls.
Paul Gorman, president and CEO of the South Shore YMCA, is excited to make this project a reality. He said, “The new Camp Hayward Dining Hall will not only allow us to increase capacity and offer more girls the opportunity to attend Camp each session, the enhanced dining environment also plays an important role in establishing a healthy attitude toward nutrition, healthy eating habits, and self-image.”
“The South Shore YMCA transforms lives and makes a difference for children and families,” said Dave Dirubbo, president of Acella Construction. “Our project team has the integrity and mutual respect to Build Better for the South Shore YMCA and our community.”

The South Shore YMCA is a nonprofit association committed to strengthening our communities by nurturing the potential of kids, promoting healthy living and fostering a sense of social responsibility. Throughout the South Shore community, the SSYMCA engages more than 65,000 members and participants, nearly two-thirds of whom are children and teens, in over 100 different program areas across its six branches. The Y strives to serve our entire community and provides financial assistance to ensure every child, family and individual has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive through South Shore YMCA membership, programs and services.
The Acella team, led by Scott Brash, the project superintendent, and several huge time saving ideas by Anthony Dirubbo, allowed us to complete our 14,200 s/f building on time. I have never worked with a better superintendent than Scott – as he performed miracles on a daily basis. If you are contemplating building a club house, please take the time to call Dave Dirubbo, Acella’s president and make an appointment. You will not be disappointed.
