It’s been a long, cold, rainy spring but with summertime around the corner, the living WILL get easier – particularly for those headed to the Cape where state-of-the-art facilities like the Cummaquid Golf Club are shining examples of what happens when aesthetics and functionality meet through a design/build approach.
Cummaquid was one of our projects back in 2015 during one of the worst winters on record. Despite this, we moved forward on the $4.5 million, 14,200-square-foot club house that today is a true destination point for visitors to the Cape. Time had taken a toll on the much-used Cummaquid Golf Club clubhouse, originally built in 1945. Unable to meet current building codes and handicap access requirements, the venue could not be rehabbed, and after much discussion, a new clubhouse was decided upon. This new facility now includes a formal dining room overlooking the golf course, grill-style lounge and restaurant, locker rooms, pro shop, 70-foot covered porch for outdoor dining, a board room, office, and storage rooms. The interior displays a two-way field stone gas fireplace separating the dining room and lounge, extensive millwork and coffered ceilings, chandeliers and numerous other elegant touches.
Although the weather was against us for an expansive project such as this, by incorporating a design/build approach, we stayed on time and on-budget. On this project and in other design/build projects, we’re able to serve as a singular point of contact on all issues, overseeing and remaining accountable for design outcomes, budget expectations, and timeframe, as well as responding to any questions or concerns that may arise. Additionally, the time needed for both design and construction is reduced due to the coordination of these efforts from the very beginning. Easier permitting, realistic budgeting, enhanced communications and better quality control are other noteworthy outcomes of the design/build approach, allowing us to meet the needs faced by our clients in the 21st century.
Speaking of which – the ever-changing world in which we live prompted us to establish a cannabis construction team, available to assist companies design and construct cannabis dispensary and cultivation facilities. Given the complex regulatory requirements and other considerations necessary in the cannabis realm, design/build helps to create a seamless approach to cannabis-related construction, coordinating everyone into one successful effort. Our team has established partnerships with product and service providers specializing in the intricacies of the cannabis and related industries and is ready, willing and able to help with all aspects of this new, booming industry.

Working with Acella was great. They were always available to answer my questions and they kept me in the loop every step of the way. They were very flexible and patient and worked around our working schedule – sometimes coming in very early in the morning. Their work turned out wonderfully and they even painted a large wall that was not part of the scope to get the whole space looking shiny and new.
