What We Build
We Build Better Education
Acella transforms college and university campuses with new classrooms, science and laboratory spaces, residential, student enrichment and athletic facilities.
Our teams have 10+ years’ experience expertly managing campus construction. We specialize in highly complex projects built efficiently and collaboratively. We have distinguished ourselves through our high level of client satisfaction, repeat business and client accolades. Our current clients include Northeastern University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Boston University, Boston College and Bentley University.
Occupied campus environments, with teaching and learning activities happening just a few feet away – present unique challenges, and demand the highest sensitivity and safety. Mistakes can be costly and dangerous, and we understand hazards and how to avoid them. We manage the logistics of interior and exterior pedestrian traffic and flows, and provide strict environmental controls to minimize noise and dust.
We are agile and efficient, making sure our presence is as unobtrusive as possible, and adjusting our schedules and approach for each project with an uncommon sensitivity and understanding of the unique cultures of each institution. From fast-track summer renovations, to projects coinciding with the academic year, and life-safety upgrades, we manage budgets and schedules to meet expectations.
Featured below (left), Acella managed the Studio Theatre project at Ell Hall for Northeastern University. Construction required careful coordination of work concurrent with scheduled performances – and the new entrance in a high traffic area required pedestrian access throughout construction. Our work with Jones Architecture for MIT Laboratory for Nuclear Science Building 24 5th floor (right) was a 2,500 s/f renovation of a mid-century concrete frame building. Scope included consolidated office spaces, relocation for server room and new interior finishes.
The Acella team, led by Scott Brash, the project superintendent, and several huge time saving ideas by Anthony Dirubbo, allowed us to complete our 14,200 s/f building on time. I have never worked with a better superintendent than Scott – as he performed miracles on a daily basis. If you are contemplating building a club house, please take the time to call Dave Dirubbo, Acella’s president and make an appointment. You will not be disappointed.
